How often should you visit the dentist?

City Dental Care 10 November 2025 3 min read

For most people, a dental check-up and professional cleaning every six months is a good rhythm. It lets your dentist catch small issues — like early decay or gum inflammation — before they become painful or expensive.

Some people benefit from more frequent visits: if you have gum disease, wear braces, smoke, or are prone to cavities, your dentist may recommend a shorter interval.

Between visits, the basics still matter most: brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth daily, and limit sugary snacks and drinks.

If you notice bleeding gums, sensitivity, persistent bad breath, or any tooth pain, don't wait for your next scheduled visit — book an appointment.
